Dulzura Café at 709 Bermuda Drive in San Mateo is a mom-and-pop café drawing inspiration from the vibrant food culture of Miami, blending Cuban baked goods, Latin pastries, and hearty sandwiches in a warm, relaxed setting with indoor and outdoor seating. The pastry program is the heart of the operation. Guava and cheese pastelitos are the runaway favorite, made fresh daily with a flaky crust and a well-balanced guava-to-cheese ratio that regulars rave about. Blueberry crumble danishes, fruit tarts, muffins, croissants, strudel, and tres leches cake round out the sweet side. On the savory menu, the Cubano is the anchor — pressed pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard on toasted bread — alongside the Key West chicken sandwich, breakfast burritos, quiche, croissant egg and cheese sandwiches, and spinach and chicken empanadas. Cuban coffee and espresso drinks anchor the beverage menu alongside smoothies and juice.
