Home of the Phozilla with 24-hour simmered marrow broth.
Opened in San Mateo in 2018, Gao Viet Kitchen belongs to a family of Vietnamese restaurants that began with Ben Tre in South San Francisco in 2008. The kitchen serves modern Vietnamese food including large bowls of pho, wok-fired noodles, fresh seafood, bone marrow, grilled meats, and the Phozilla, which the restaurant calls its viral bowl. The name comes from the Vietnamese word gao, meaning rice, chosen to represent warmth, family, and the comfort of home.
