Rico Pan Latin Pastries

Cafe/Bakery$

A neighborhood Latin bakery on San Mateo Avenue in San Bruno serving fresh pan dulce, cream cheese Danish, scones, cakes, tamales, Mitchell's ice cream, and espresso at everyday prices.

RicoPan LatinPastries at 532 San Mateo Avenue in San Bruno is a small, to-go-style neighborhood bakery serving a mix of traditional Latin pastries and European-inspired baked goods at some of the most accessible prices on the Peninsula. Cookies start at 85 cents each, scones at $1.40, cream cheese Danish at around $1.70, and cake slices at $3 to $4.75. The display cases run the full range: pan dulce, coconut croissants, apple fritters, cream cheese Danish, chocolate claw pastries, pound cake, tiramisu, cheesecake, chocolate fudge cake, and thick-cut dipped cookies. Tamales are served Wednesday through Sunday and are a consistent draw for regulars. The bakery also carries Mitchell's Ice Cream, the beloved San Francisco brand, scooped generously on site. The space is roomy but has no seating — it is a come-in, point-and-order, take-it-with-you kind of place. The staff speaks primarily Spanish and is known for being generous with samples. Espresso drinks and frappes are available alongside the pastry menu. Open seven days a week with early morning hours most days, the bakery sits in the heart of downtown San Bruno's San Mateo Avenue corridor, surrounded by boutique shops and restaurants. Credit and debit cards as well as NFC mobile payments are all accepted.
