A Bay Area institution since 1962, Dianda's is a family-founded Italian bakery serving fresh-baked pastries, custom cakes, tiramisu, and Italian cookies daily in San Mateo and San Francisco.
Dianda's Italian American Pastry Co. was founded in 1962 by the Dianda family, who brought their recipes from Lucca in northern Italy; three longtime employees took over ownership in 2003. Cases hold specialty cakes such as tiramisu, tres leches, cappuccino, and Black Forest, alongside cannoli, eclairs, napoleons, and cream puffs. Mornings bring the almond torte the bakery calls famous, cheese danish, croissants, and roughly 50 traditional Italian cookies. Custom wedding cakes are also made, and the bakery operates in San Mateo and in San Francisco's Mission District.
