Iconic Bay Area BBQ institution in a bright orange caboose on Hwy 1, featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
Gorilla BBQ was established in 2006 by Rich Bacchi, a Pacifica native whose family ran a restaurant just down the street from where the barbecue stand sits today. The nickname Gorilla came from his father. The kitchen works with fresh ingredients and slow-cooked meats, and it operates Friday through Sunday from noon until it sells out, which often happens before closing. Gorilla BBQ appeared on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in 2009 and again on its 2020 Takeout Special, and Bacchi toured with the Messlords in 2011 and 2016.
