A San Bruno juice shop opened in 2022 specializing in fresh-pressed sugarcane juice, pressed to order with no added sugar or preservatives, in over a dozen natural flavor combinations.
Sugarcane HQ at 586 San Mateo Avenue in San Bruno is one of the few shops in the Bay Area dedicated entirely to fresh-pressed sugarcane juice, opened in late 2022 by Phong Nguyen and A.T. Nguyen. Both grew up in Vietnamese families where sugarcane was a household staple, and the shop is a direct expression of that background — bringing the street cart culture of Vietnam to the Peninsula. Every drink is pressed to order from whole sugarcane stalks with zero additives: no added sugar, no water, no preservatives. Customers choose up to two flavors to blend with the pure cane juice from a menu that includes calamansi, passion fruit, lime, ginger, coconut, kumquat, watermelon, honeydew, mango, carrot, beet, black salt, and Himalayan salt. The signature Vietnamese coffee blend, mixing fresh-pressed cane juice with bitter Vietnamese drip coffee, has become a fan favorite, with the sweetness of the cane balancing the coffee's intensity. The shop received coverage in the San Francisco Chronicle shortly after opening. Orders are placed via kiosk at the counter. Drinks come in 16 oz and 24 oz sizes, with half-gallon and full-gallon options available for events and bulk orders. Sugarcane HQ also offers a juicer station rental for corporate events. A second express location operates inside Pho De Nguyen in San Francisco. Open Wednesday through Sunday.
