Peninsula favorite since 1970, renowned for innovative Chinese cuisine and legendary Peking Duck with charismatic owner greeting guests.
Chef Chu's has been open in Los Altos since 1970 under owner Lawrence C. C. Chu, who the restaurant says can often be found at the center of the activity in his dining room. The signature Classic Beijing Duck is barbecued in a cast-iron Chinese oven, deboned and hand carved by the chefs and served with steamed lotus buns, with a portion of the meat and bones stewed into duck soup as a traditional second course. Other signature plates include the Four Seasons Cold Plate and minced crystal prawns served in chilled lettuce cups.
