Ike's Place

Cafe/Bakery$

San Mateo outpost of the beloved Bay Area sandwich chain founded in 2007, known for gourmet Dutch crunch sandwiches, the famous Dirty Sauce, and extensive vegan and halal options.

Ike's Place at 680 E Third Avenue in San Mateo is part of the Ike's Love and Sandwiches chain founded in 2007 by Ike Shehadeh, a Palestinian-American who learned to make sandwiches from his mother and opened his first location in San Francisco's Castro district. The brand now spans over 100 locations across the western United States. The San Mateo shop is open seven days a week from 10 AM to 7 PM and serves the brand's signature gourmet sandwiches on Dutch crunch rolls, loaded with creative combinations and house-made sauces including the famous Dirty Sauce. The menu covers halal chicken, ribeye, meatballs, and bacon options alongside an extensive vegan and vegetarian selection featuring vegan meatballs, vegan bacon, and vegan chicken. Popular sandwiches include the Go Sharks, the Meatless Mike (vegan meatballs and marinara), the Purple Bee (vegan bacon BLAT), and the Handsome Owl (vegan chicken with teriyaki and wasabi mayo). Gluten-free accommodations are available. Online ordering comes with a rewards program, and catering trays are available for events.
