A revitalized classic tracing its roots to Original Johnny's, open since the 1960s on Main Street.
Johnny's Half Moon Bay occupies a building put up in 1967 by John Evan, whose family ran Original Johnny's there for years. The current team says it follows the standards of quality and hospitality the Evans set, adding a twist of its own, down to the pies it bakes and the pack of lifesavers handed to a well behaved young diner. The kitchen serves breakfast and brunch, with a children's menu called Little Birds and a drinks list.
