Lively Japanese spot combining creative sushi rolls and rich tonkotsu and miso ramen bowls in a casual, welcoming setting.
Kanji Sushi & Ramen makes it easy to combine a sushi craving with something warm and substantial. At its El Camino Way location in Palo Alto, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty rolls share the menu with ramen, udon, and Japanese dinner plates. We like that a meal can move between those styles without requiring everyone to order the same way. Miso and pork-based ramen sit alongside a vegetarian shoyu version with tofu and vegetables. Sushi choices span simple spicy tuna rolls, salmon-focused combinations, and more elaborate specialty rolls. Yellowtail with jalapeño, chicken karaage, gyoza, and agedashi tofu provide small plates to share. Bento boxes, grilled mackerel, teriyaki, and katsu round out the cooked selection. Kanji's appeal is this breadth, particularly for a group balancing raw fish, noodles, and familiar Japanese comfort food.
