LUMA Coffee Lounge brings a distinctive set of coffee and matcha drinks to Middlefield Road in Redwood City. From the team behind Kaizen & Coffee, the independently operated cafe has its own entrance at Rise City Church and access to a shared lounge with couches and tables. We like its approachable mix of Latin-inspired flavors and a focused specialty coffee program. The panela latte uses piloncillo for its sweetness, while the LUMA No. 3 adds cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Mango matcha offers a fruit-forward alternative, with Nami Matcha used for the tea drinks. Espresso features a custom Colombian blend, and pastries from San Mateo's Amour Bakery round out a coffee break. The appeal is a concise menu with individual character and room to settle in with a drink.
