A three-generation Sicilian family bakery in San Mateo since 1968, hand-crafting cannoli filled to order with fresh ricotta, plus gelato, tiramisu, spumoni, and traditional Italian pastries.
Romolo and Angela made desserts at home in Vittoria, Sicily, then came to the Bay Area in the 1960s and opened what became Romolo's Cannoli in San Mateo in 1968. The shop works as both gelateria and pasticceria, with shells fried in small batches and filled to order using ricotta strained overnight, plus spumoni, amaretti, and tiramisu. Alternative fillings include lemoncello, chocolate, tiramisu, and strawberry, and cannoli kits are sold for assembly at home. The founders retired in 2007 and handed the business to their grandson Joe.
