A hidden gem near Skyline Blvd serving authentic Thai cuisine from a small, spotlessly clean kitchen.
Thai Original BBQ gives its Hickey Boulevard menu in Pacifica a strong grilled-meat foundation alongside noodles, curries, and aromatic soups. Kai yang chicken and satay provide appealing starting points, with shrimp fried rice accompanying several dinner combinations. We like the opportunity to build a meal around barbecue while still exploring other Thai preparations. Chicken or beef satay comes with peanut sauce and cucumber salad. Tom yum brings a hot-and-sour shrimp soup option, while tom kha adds coconut to the broth. Pad Thai, Panang curry, basil chicken, and eggplant with basil broaden the selection. Seafood dishes include garlic-and-black-pepper shrimp, with vegetables and tofu offering further ways to vary an order. The restaurant's appeal is that balance between grilled dishes and the contrasting flavors of chili, lime, herbs, and coconut across the menu.
