A Burlingame soft serve shop sourcing organic milk from Valley Ford Creamery near Petaluma, with lower sugar recipes, handmade fresh cones, and a mission to keep ice cream simple and honest.
Buenas Organic Soft Serve at 1215 Burlingame Avenue is one of the most thoughtfully sourced dessert shops on the Peninsula, built on a story that is equal parts personal, purposeful, and delicious. The founder grew up in Mongolia, where soft serve made from the milk of free-range, pasture-raised livestock was simply the standard. When he moved to the United States, he could never replicate that clean, lightly sweet, uncomplicated flavor. After being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes two years ago, the search became urgent: he needed soft serve with less sugar, cleaner ingredients, and no compromise on taste. The answer came through Valley Ford Creamery, a small family-run dairy farm near Petaluma whose pasture-raised, stress-free cows reminded him of his father's ranch back home in Mongolia. That shared philosophy of animal care and milk quality became the foundation of Buenas. The soft serve is made with organic milk from Valley Ford, kept lower in sugar without sacrificing creaminess, and served in fresh cones made in-house every day. The cones are crisp, fragrant, and handcrafted specifically to complement the soft serve. Buenas is open daily from 11 AM to midnight, making it one of the few late-night dessert options on Burlingame Avenue.
