Open since 2019 and led by Chef Nicolas Castillo, who began cooking in Colombia at age 13, Foreigner Cafe serves scratch-made breakfast and brunch in San Mateo. Dishes include smoked salmon avocado toast, Cajun shrimp toast, bacon and eggs Benedict, a French omelette, and a berry croffle. Coffee is ground in house, with Barako from the Philippines, Peerless Coffee from Oakland, and single-origin pour-overs from Red Bay. The cafe is dog friendly with outdoor seating and was voted Best Brunch in San Mateo in 2025.
