Family-owned business serving omakase boxes and milk bread sandos.
Kazu Sushi and Sando brings together two appealing sides of Japanese takeout: sushi boxes and sandwiches. We like the contrast between a savory chicken, pork, or shrimp katsu sando and a fruit-and-cream sandwich for dessert. An unagi katsu version and a classic egg salad sando add more personality to the selection. The San Mateo menu also offers mixed roll boxes with combinations such as shrimp tempura, salmon avocado, California, and spicy tuna rolls. Salmon nigiri and sashimi provide another direction, while a salmon zuke bowl pairs fish with sushi rice and avocado. For something served hot, gyudon and chicken katsu bowls round out the choices. Operating from the San Mateo Food Mall, Kazu's appeal is a focused collection that lets an order move easily from sushi to a substantial sandwich and a sweet fruit-filled finish.
