Only Peninsula steakhouse dry-aging beef in-house with visible meat locker.
Dry-aged and grass-fed Midwest beef is the focus at Porterhouse, which opened in 2007 and began dry-aging in 2013. The San Mateo dining room occupies the 1924 Bank of San Mateo building, with high ceilings, subdued lighting, film posters from Hollywood's Golden Age, and a meat locker visible at the entrance. Recurring features include Beef Wellington Wednesday and tableside preparations such as Crepe Suzette and Bananas Foster. Four private dining rooms and an outdoor patio are available.
