Authentic Salvadoran restaurant specializing in handcrafted pupusas and traditional cuisine
Pupusería La Casita makes its namesake Salvadoran specialty a particularly inviting starting point. The San Mateo menu offers pupusas filled with cheese, beans and cheese, chicharrón, loroco, zucchini, or jalapeño, along with beef and chicken combinations. We like having enough variety to build a meal around several fillings instead of settling for just one. Mexican dishes share the menu, including asada, chicken, and al pastor tacos, sopes, and quesadillas. Super burritos add avocado and sour cream to rice, beans, cheese, and salsa, while a carne asada plate offers a more traditional sit-down meal combination. Fried yuca, Salvadoran enchiladas, and milk-filled empanadas give the selection additional character. At its South Norfolk Street location, La Casita's appeal is a compact collection of Salvadoran and Mexican comfort foods with plenty of ways to mix a few favorites.
