Sky Kitchen

Breakfast$

A classic aviation-themed diner at the San Carlos Airport with tarmac views, serving generous breakfasts, homemade corned beef hash, and hearty lunch plates daily.

Sky Kitchen at 620 Airport Drive sits right on the tarmac of San Carlos Airport (SQL), one of the busiest general aviation airports on the Peninsula, and has been a neighborhood institution for over 35 years. Since 2010 it has been owned and operated by Simer Mann and Paul Sidhu, both aviation enthusiasts who bought it from the previous owners who ran it for 25 years before them. The aviation-themed interior is packed with plane-related décor, and nearly every table looks out onto the runway where private jets and small aircraft take off and land throughout the day — a setup that makes it especially popular with families and young kids. The menu leans into classic American diner comfort food with generous portions and reasonable prices. Breakfast is the main event, with a large omelet selection anchored by favorites like the Southwest omelet with chorizo, jalapeño, and avocado, the Boar omelet with multiple meats, and the Little Bit of Italy omelet. The homemade corned beef hash is consistently one of the most praised items on the menu, made in-house and notably less salty than the canned versions found at most diners. Other breakfast staples include eggs Benedict, French toast, pancakes, breakfast burritos with chunky pico de gallo and crispy hash browns, huevos rancheros, and a full kids menu. Lunch covers burgers, sandwiches, salads, hot pastrami, French dip, and daily soup specials. Hand-squeezed fresh juice, milkshakes, and root beer floats are also on the menu. The restaurant is next door to the Hiller Aviation Museum, making it a natural pairing for a full outing.
