No traditional menus, just small batched family style dishes showcasing Mexican tradition and fresh seasonal local offerings.
Tal Palo takes its name from the expression "de tal palo, tal astilla," and describes itself as a Guadalajara-inspired cafe and tienda celebrating Mexican heritage and East Bay roots. There are no menus. The tiny kitchen cooks in small batches from daily market runs and serves nostalgic Mexican classics family style, with vegetarian and vegan options always available. Owners Adriana and Aaron call the downtown Los Altos space an antecomedor, the informal room before the dining room. Reservations are required for a full dining experience, and the shop also hosts cooking classes and private events.
